Only 116 B-58’s were built (at a cost of $12,440,000 USD per unit). The short operational history of this aircraft was the result of the development by very accurate SAM’s by the Soviet Union. The B-58 had a maximum speed of 1,319 mph at 40,000 feet and a service ceiling of 63,400 feet.
