War Eagles Air Museum, Santa Teresa, New Mexico
Many consider the DC-3 to be the most signifiant transport
aircraft every made. It was introduced in 1936 and 607 planes
entered service before production ended in 1950. By 1938
80% of American airline traffic was on DC-3’s and by 1939
most of the world’s airline traffic was on these aircraft.
The military version is called the C-47.
