The Chinook was introduced into service in 1961 and as of 2018 it is still in service. More than 1,200 units of this aircraft were produced at a unit cost of about $39M USD each. There are many users of this aircraft, the main ones being the US Army, the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force, and the Royal Netherlands Air Force.
