War Eagles Air Museum, Santa Teresa, New Mexico
The Sea Fury entered service in 1946. The British Royal Navy
disbanded its last squadron of this aircraft in 1955. The plane
shown here is the land-based version of the carrier-based Sea Fury.
It lacks a tail-hook, folding wings, etc. which were found
on the Sea Fury. It was made for the Iraqi Air Force and
was delivered to it on November 21, 1949. Sometime in the 1970’s
it was decommissioned. From Iraqi this particular aircraft went to
Florida, then Australia (thus the Australian markings), then back to
California, and finally to the War Eagles Museum in 1989.
