Fieseler Fi-156 Storch

War Eagles Air Museum, Santa Teresa, New Mexico
The Storch excelled in slow speed flying, take off, and
landing.  This capability enabled it to be used in very
restricted spaces.  It entered service in the German military
in 1937.  It was retired from military service in 1945 (Germany)
and 1970 (France).  This aircraft had a production run of over
2,900.  The wings of this (land-based) aircraft could be folded
back along the fuselage for transport on a trailer or,
in some cases, towed.
