The Sikorsky R-4 was the first mass-produced helicopter. In all, 131 units were built. It was produced between 1942 and 1944 and was used by the United States Army Air Force, the United States Coast Guard, and the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force. The R-4B was a production unit fitted with a 200 hp engine, 100 units of this model were produced, of which 45 were used by the Royal Air Force, and 20 by the US Navy.
